When I last purchased what was supposed to be track bolts, the bolts I received were grade 8 bolts of the same length. Track bolts have a slightly larger shank where the go thru the grouser and link. They also have a higher rounded head. The nuts are supposed to be square not hex. Track nuts have been gone for a long long time. If you find real track bolts let me know. For now buy grade bolts and nuts

Track bolts come in size for many machines - length and shank diameter as well as overall size . Any track shop or dealer in Industrial should be able to find what will work .
For my FD5 the bolts in the split link are 9/16 bolts where rest of track is Metric .
Check with someone like Thill Track and Tractor in Eau Claire WI
Northern Tractor in Osseo MN , Crawler Welding in Mankato MN
If you have a sample with measurements will help .

Check out Caterpillar hardware," One safe source"I think is the book with all there bolts and such, and have found it on line. Cat parts are not cheap, but many times the hardware is cheaper and better in many cases than anything else.

Thanks much. I'll check out the possible sources. I may need to rework the front and rear track rollers. Any guidance on that project?

Years ago a friend who worked for Cat took me on a tour through the main factory in Peoria, he pointed out a production line making track pads, said they were for JD!

Thanks for the tip. Did the cat bolts you found have the shoulder on them like the Allis bolts?

If you can, get the Caterpillar Fast Moving Parts catalog which lists all Cat hardware and other items as well. The Cat dealers have these  available for their customers. There  are several different styles of track bolts available with shoulders. The bolts that I used worked very well in the AC under carriage links and pads.

The AC track roller uses a Timken tapered roller. Much better than the bronze bushings Cat uses. The front idlers may need to be built up also.
