That will make it a 1953 if that is the serial number you found.
1953- 146607 to 160385.
The chart above shows last numbers for the year.

WD-45 production began at 146607 in 1953 and ended at 236958 in 1957.

The last WD's numbers could match some of the early WD-45 numbers

I believe:

The 1953 WD started with serial number 131243 and ended with serial number 160384.

The 1953 WD-45 started with serial number 146607 and ended with 160385 in 1953.

If the engine is original it will not have the steel plate on the right side of the engine if it is a WD-45.
Also the WD oil filter housing had one line coming out of it and the WD-45 had a tee in the bottom of the housing for two lines.

The serial numbers in  the chart posted are year ending numbers not starting numbers for the year and I think there are mistakes in that chart also.

I guess you could have a 53 WD45 or a 54 WD. I never noticed that before till Uncle Theo pointed it out to me. Thanks Ted.

146607 was the first WD45, all the other charts disagree with that one.
Waukesha B, B, IB, G, styled WF, D15, 615 backhoe, 2-Oliver OC3's, 4 Ford Model T's, 3 Model A Fords, AV8 Coupe, AV8 Roadster, 1933 Ford Wrecker

OK Norms books says 146606 was the last WD. Benny, only the earliest WD's had the number stamped on the right side of the left brake housing. All later WD's and 45's were stamped on the back of the differential housing.

I guess both places could be considered the left brake housing, just one is on top and the other on the back.
