Just wondering from all those who own U's. Does the carb side of the block have a slight bulge or is it perfectly flat? My '36 does. I've cleaned it to bare metal. Thoughts?

I would guess that casting tolerances were not to critical back when.....who knows? I could look at my UC but it's up the road and it's dark out. LOL

Yep, I found the crack after I posted yesterday. Me, and the previous owner who is a great friend never knew about it. The block had been prepped for paint and was in primer. I did some scraping and found bondo, and underneath that, a crack that was sealed with JB weld. Not sure how to take it.

Lots of terrible things are sometimes hidden behind pretty paint.  Another case of "lipstick on a pig" That's always a terrible thing to find on something that you just brought.Angry
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.

That's the thing. He owned it 5 or more years before I bought it, and I owned it for 3. We both had NO idea. No water in the oil (besides typical condensation) and no seeping. I'll probably fill it back in, or pin it. I'll stop drill it for good measure. Its ran great before with no issues
