Some double crop beans that are arm pit high. Also the top of a 185 & drill re-seeding water way edges from overspray.

Those two fields were planted June 22, behind barley. We have been doing a corn, barley, beans rotation and the timing seems to work out well.

Yes, barley & beans goes through the grinder and fed through beef cattle, finishing steers get ear corn ground in the mix as well. The bulk of all our grain goes to the local elevator and sold.

OK, so you feed soy beans to the cattle? Never knew of anyone around here doing that although one farmer I know of had one of those PTO driven bean processors and fed beans that way but to hogs. Back in the 1980's I finished several groups of steers using shelled corn with the supplement sprinkled on top. Didn't see any difference in the amount of corn fed as opposed to grinding corn in the conventional way.

The beans in the mix are just part of the ration, corn/ barley are primary. I’m sure they would eat straight beans, but would make expensive feed. I know of some in the area that feed straight apple peels so I guess they will eat almost anything. We feed what we can grow, sell what’s left so there isn’t any waste.

Never heard of feeding apple peels; wonder if the peels give any flavor to the meat. Reminds me of seeing years ago in Florida a facility that processed citrus pulp into feed for cattle. Their advertising slogan was "they moo for more". All this talk about cattle feed makes me want a nice thick steak.
