    Posted: 23 Jun 2011 at 9:16am
I have a 1938 wc and it has spoked rims on the back and the plain steel rims on the front. Right now they are painted silver but I believe they should be orange. Does anyone know for sure what they should be?  Thanks

From what I've seen on original looking units of that same year, they would want to be the same color as the rest of the tractor.

That is what made me think that too. It's looks good with silver but I would like the original. Thanks

The original WC has a set of galvanized rear rims.  To have spoked wheels on a 1938 is great but unusual.  I do not believe they were available then.  The front wheels were all Persian Orange #2 like the tractor.  A minor detail is that the WC decal was never placed on a WC.  They started with - I believe - the late WD's and the model line up from there.
Take good care.  Look forward to seeing the WC when complete.
Saw one at the Free State Antique Tractor show Friday along with other AC equipment.
Looked good.
Good Luck!

The paint should be PO#1, maybe you got fat finger syndrome Bill. LOL Is the 38 a styled tractor or unstyled? I don't know if that would make a difference in the back rims. Maybe somebody liked the look and added them sometime in the last 70 years.

Thanks for the correction Charlie.  Also you are right on the styled or unstyled cause if memory serves me correctly they made both in that year.
Good Luck!

I have a 38 unstyled and the rims are black. I don't think it's ever been repainted but the rims could have been changed or painted. I've also seen restored ones with black rims. My back rims are the solid rims not spokes.

Our WC had cutoff steels on the back. I figured the original steel was PO#1, so they are today too.

Its a 1938 also, just before the style change.
