What's your favorite (and maybe least favorite?) coolant conditioner? I've always thought it was a great, cheap, insurance policy for these older engines, yet I've never used them. Going to start this year.
Thanks, George

I've always used NALCOOL in my gas or diesel engines. Works with your favorite Antifreeze. I haven't purchased it in a while, but used to get it at Napa in a White n' Blue plastic bottle. You didn't need to add a lot to the coolant system. Keeps the systems pretty much rust free. I use it in my Classic Cars & Hotrods cause they sit over the Winter, and I fire em' up once in a while during the Winter months just to circulate the coolant. Some premix Antifreeze's I believe have rust inhibitors added to them now. Cooling system conditioners have come a long way especially for diesels. Steve@B&B

I've quit using any and have switched to the newer extended life premixed coolants.
Drain the cooling system, flush a couple times and refill with new style coolant like the newer equipment calls for. We used to use Nal Cool products at work and home, until about 15 years ago.

Using a conditioner is guesswork unless you test the coolant. Make it simple and buy a good pre-mixed coolant with all the additives you need. I use JD " coolguard" because they're the only place that's half way close. Also makes it easy if all you want to do is "top off" the radiator.
