Have you ever shortened the length on one or reshaped it? Better, worse? I occasionally bump mine when I twist to look behind me backing up. Obviously it is in reverse and I shove it out of gear--or worse push it half in and half out-- inadvertently with my leg or knee.

I've got a herniated disc in my lower back and a bad knee, so I'm not as flexible as I once was. Usually when I bump the gearshift, I'm twisting around as I back up between trees when mowing shooting lanes around my deer stands or weaving around to maneuver between obstacles. I've thought I can always weld back to original again, but thought to ask before I try it.

I am not familiar with that model. I bought a 180 years ago and basically straightened the shifter after getting on and off the first day I operated it. I never regretted it. To me it made shifting more “straight on” and I no longer got my foot caught. I hope this helps.
