Based on the curved gearshift, it is either a later 1952 WD or as new as a 1957 WD-45. The serial number for the chassis is directly above the left side square headed bolt just above the rockshaft on the rear face of the rear end housing. It is stamped and will say WD XXXXXX. The number you have provided is a raised "casting" number and really means nothing to me. The serial number for the engine is also stamped and is directly behind the hose that runs from the air cleaner to the carburetor. It will say W-xxxxxx for a WD engine or 45-xxxxxx for a WD-45 engine. |

The posts were from April of 2017 so I assume the tractor is long gone. He last was on the forum April 4, 2017. Must have found a home for the tractor.

Tall head on a WD makes it a 1951 or newer if original.

So, it's a late 1952 or up to mid 1953 WD. It is not a WD-45 unless you give me the chassis S/N.

I can barely see some of the serial number on the rear differential exactly where it was described to be, but there is too much paint to make it out. Any thoughts on best way to remove the paint without messing it up too much?

If anyone has a lead on some rear tires, I am need of 2 decent tires and I think I have 2 salvageable rims... but I'll have to see when I change them. I have a spare rim that is good with another bad tire on it. I have an extra bucket if someone needs one.

If the manufactured year of the rear is that important to you and have any access to a black light, wipe clean the area good with alcohol. The uncleaned depths in the stamping will become visible with the UV bulb in a very dark setting. Please remember that motor swaps were very common due to interchangeability for these tractors. End of the day— curved shifter indicates late wd though 45 time period trans. Tall head and no engine plate, most likely a 226, can be checked with wire in spark plug hole for stroke verification..

I'm trying to date my tractor. The only numbers I'm seeing are WD 245030 and WD 40246.
