 Topic: Wd brake pedal interlock

Has anyone ever made or sold a brake pedal interlock to enable movement of both pedals at the same time? I’m picturing two brackets that clamp on each pedal’s lever, one with a hinged lever and one with a U bracket. It seems like an easy project for someone with some fabricating ability.

I just use my foot. I seldom ever lock the pedals on new stuff that can be locked. I like the control of using them independently.

What would be the reasoning ? My boot covers both easily. Locking would get you in a bad situation fast in an emergency turn.

Why? Ive always found it to be a beneficial feature. I guess I’ve never driven tractors so fast I’ve needed to make an”emergency turn” by locking just one brake. The only time I unlock them is making tight precise turns, and maybe for traction now and then. I’d hate to lock up just one brake in any emergency situation.
Maybe I’m just not used to having working brakes on the WD yet. Just seems like I have a tendency to only catch one pedal when I want to stop in a straight line. Having spent a lot of time on internationals, and deutz tractors I was under the impression the feature was the norm, not the exception.

I have thought about it too. My reason is that I use some of my old tractors for parades with grandkids and me driving them. I worry about their smaller feet hitting one brake when in road gear (getting back to the trailer after parade).

I remember that our CA had one on it. It was GREAT for our little feet. I don't know if the old man made it or it came from Allis? He worked in the Allis plant in La Crosse, WI.
It had a shoulder bolt in the left brake and it flipped over onto the right one so our little feet (while pulling ourselves into the steering wheel) could press both brakes and stop while picking up bales of hay and such.
I've thought of drawing up plans and sending them to RLTool to see if he could make some up. I think I'll do that tomorrow when it's raining AGAIN!!!

My D-10 series III has a latch to tie both pedals together.

I bought an old WD a few years ago that had a piece of heater hose split, slid over both pedals and had black friction tape (I haven't seen black friction tape in years!) wrapped around it to hold it on the pedals.

Just remember, BOTH brakes would have to be adjusted EQUALLY for that to work properly
.

Both brakes have to be adjusted properly for the parking brake cam to work. I lock the brakes together on all the newer tractors when roading them. You don't want to hit one brake when your going 20 mph with a 25,000 lb implement pushing you.

got a old wd from a guy long time back that had a peace of flat iron across both brakes to tie them together. he put a 5-16th' hole in each peddle. to bolt them together. it's ok if thats what someone wants.

I hope this works Dusty!! As you said, they look like they are Allis castings of the pedals. AND, they are EXACTLY like the ones we had on our CA back in the 60s.   There ya go guys!! Anybody got extra thick brake pedals out there?

Per the parts book, the D10 and D12 DID have interlocking pedals. Those pictures are factory. I would imagine with some work, they could be adapted to a WD.

D15 S2 and the 170 both have the same interlock on the brake pedals. Show up in the parts book, so would be factory.
