   Mostly just curious if this muffler is the right one for this manifold? It's a Stanley AC-4. The tractor is a WD but I know a few different manifolds would bolt onto these things, and wasn't sure if they all had the same size exhaust hole? 
   
  The old one rotted out (badly). Am I supposed to just force fit this thing down in there (and install the bolt in the front)? It seems a bit snug. Or am I supposed to compress the tip a bit first? This is my first muffler install. ![]() Also, I should note I had a devil of a time getting the old muffler out.... Or rather, the 6 inch piece of it that was left after the rest rusted/broke off. ![]() Any assistance is appreciated.  |

   The manifold opening where the pipe slips in may have a layer of rust and/or combustion residue in there.  I had to take my die grinder and clean that stuff out down to bare metal on my WD before my new muffler would fit in.

Set a block of wood on top of the outlet pipe and drive it into the manifold. What are you going to retain it to the manifold with ???

   Use a round head bolt (carrage bolt)put head inside  and slip slot over and tighten.

   The manifold on my D-17 is threaded.  You may want to get a pipe tap and thread the manifold.  Put a threaded stub pipe in the manifold.  Place the muffler over the pipe and install with an exhaust U-Bolt setup.

   Don(MO) -- Unsure (and not out at the farm at the moment to check). 13XXXX to 14XXXX probably? Both of my WDs are the transition years that had WD stickers but crooked gear shifters. 
   
  Alberta Phil -- Yeah, I should try to "deburr" the inside of the thing for sure. Is really rough. DrAllis -- Just wanted to be sure before I did that, lol. wfmurray -- Yep, just like the one that I took out to get the old muffler off!

   Along with everything mentioned, I like to use some liquid nitrogen in a spray can sold by our local auto parts store. Works very well on thin wall thickness materials for press fits (not so much beating with a hammer).
