I came across A pair of new Firestone 340/85R28 tires at a salvage sale. Probably can get them for $50 or so, wondering if they would be too small for my WD. The WD calls for 14.9, these are comparable at 13.6. Any thoughts ?

Probably pull better than a 14.9 bias though.

According to TractorData.com the WD came with 11 (12.4) x 28 and the WD45 came with 12 (13.6) x 28. I remember when my father replaced the tires his WD45 (that he bought new)
and went to the bigger 14.9 x 28. I have an old WD that had set for many years and came with (what I believe were the original tires) 12.4 x 28

Sounds to me like you did very well getting a matched pair of useable tires for $100.
My WD has 13.6-28's, one Firestone that Grandpa put on probably forty or forty five years ago as a set, and one Kelly-Springfield that I put on when I repaired the rotted rim ten years ago. I think I gave $100 for the used one I put on. Robert |
