I vaguely remember fixing this issue 30+ years ago on another 185. Oil started running out under steering wheel yesterday. Today when I moved it into the shop there was no oil leak ( probably ran less than 5 minutes. I seriously doubt that that issue can fix itself!🙏🤞
I believe last time I just replaced a seal in the top end of the steering motor. Is this the usual issue or does the whole motor need O-rings and seals? Thanks in advance for all information and advice.. Joe |

My FWA 8010 did that occasionally. Replaced the shaft seal and that took care of it, for now at least.

Same on 8070 and F2 Gleaner. Seal up top seemed to fix them.

Get a steering orbitrol seal kit from your AGCO dealer as per the serial number of your 185. Using a 5/16" 12 point socket, remove the top of the orbitrol. Replace the dust seal, the quad ring and one O ring. Do NOT disassemble any further than that. You would think those quad seals would last longer than 40 years, wouldn't you ??

Thanks for the replies. This site as always comes through. I found my parts book. I have the part number for the seal kit. Thank you Dr. The one I did 30 some years ago I believe was the same process you just described.
Much appreciated Joe |
