Sounds easier than the new implant idea - but the makers of the machines or devices sure will have something to say about using tape .

I would never try something life affecting without talking to a Dr. Sleep Apnea can be a big deal if not properly cared for. I use a CPAP, it's a pain and hard to get used to but I have, now it does not feel right if I'm not using it a night. My snoring has stopped and I no longer wake every morning tired with headaches. My wife sleeps more sound as she does not have to stay alert while trying to sleep, she would .... nudge me in the ribs a couple times a night so I would start breathing again so yea, talk to a Dr. Don't follow the tape hype cure-all. That works, til it doesn't......

I am getting by with a mandibular advancement device or dental appliance that holds my lower jaw forward just enough that my breathing is OK. has made a difference in my life for the last 10-15 years... |

kinesiology tape is just sports tape, amazon has it from $10/roll and up. Look at walmart or your drug store in the sports section...

Sleep apnea is real. But it's been turned into a profit center for the health care industry. Simple solutions don't generate cash flow. I was able to outright buy the same exact machine (except unlocked) that my health insurance underwrote for the cost of less than a year of my monthly copays on the rental. The Lincare reps didn't even ask why when I turned it in.

Floyd is right. Sleep apnea is a complex serious disease. (Remember reggie white?) There are multiple types. Most are peripheral (usually your diaphragm can't move your fat stomach anymore) but a central case where your brain isn't sending proper nerve impulses to your diaphragm. CPAP is the gold standard but it certainly has significant drawbacks. A dental appliance can be a good alternative for a mild case when a doctor feels so. Tape strips are great when you got some congestion but not treatment for a life threatening disease

Been sleeping with a CPAP since 94 . Can't sleep without it . Would find myself falling asleep driving at 3 , 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Wasn't getting proper sleep . Have tried laser surgery , sleep strips but the CPAP seems to work best . Insurance covers most costs and they send me replacement hoses , masks on a regular basis.

After using scba with the fire department for 38 years using a BiPAP was not too much of a problem, it does get aggravating at times though. Hauling it around when I am traveling is a pita. After running a sleep study they hooked me up to a cardiac monitor and discovered that my heart rate dropped to 30 at times during the night and sometimes would stop for a few seconds. I told the cardiologist that sounded like a good way to wake up dead and he agreed. So I got a pacemaker also (Micra implant, everything is inside my heart).

A good friend of the family died of complications of sleep apnea. Mess around with that in mind, personally I’d go to a doctor I trust.

TBone, that is the challenge, ‘a doctor you can trust’. Nowadays, how can anybody trust a Dr.? Covid laid the medical community out to bare. Absolute crooks, money grubbing, deep state kabal loving ingrates. |

See the world how you must. Your other choice is to do nothing. Well, except ask the internet, everything there is accurate. Suit yourself, and I will too. What should I do about my heart condition and asthma? |

I have to say, my experience with the Covid vaccine, and how the medical "professionals" handled it, has left a very bad taste in my mouth, and a lot less trusting.

Well, my sister did not get the vaccine, caught Covid, went to the hospital, where her life was saved.
Don’t like what all went on with Covid? Fine, don’t blame you. So, somebody has questions about sleep apnea, potentially a deadly condition, and what, our advice should be don’t go to a doctor because you can’t trust them? How about that heart condition of mine? Probably should cancel my upcoming appointment with the cardiologist eh? After all, Covid! |

Not going to argue that the medical profession hasn't been that great. In my county, there are only two privately owned general practices. Everyone else is owned by for profit hospital. Feels more like getting stripped like a parts tractor

Who would want to go to a doctor you don’t trust?
Would you marry a person you don’t trust? Finding a doctor you trust is possible, it’s a challenge, but possible. |

I've got 2 cpap machines, one in the trailer and 1 beside me bed. I can't sleep without them. These produce very little noise and if I think the one beside me bed is out of adjustment, the technicians can reset it from their office. I don't have to take the machine to them.

I have tried the tape method for 4 nights. My mouth does not dry out. I feel more rested too. Found the tape at Dollar General. Not a large roll but for $5 experiment it was reasonable.

I've been using the CPAP machine off and on for a number of years. I feel much better when I use it, but it can be a PIA, hence the off and on. I'm exploring the Inspire implant. First step is an endoscopy of your throat to see if you are a candidate. Have an appointment for that around the end of November. If that shows that it will work, probably going to proceed with the implant after the beginning of the year.
My sleep study a few years ago said I stopped breathing on average 42 times per hour.....
