hd6b remote hydraulics

Wondering if anyone has ever added rear hydraulics to there dozer or give info on doing so!!! The manual calls for a diverter valve from looking at manual appears that a gate valve should work. I have not figured out where the return line goes? Hope someone can help???

Zimmerman tractor in Versailles MO has old Allis crawlers with AG setups and a pump installed where the PTO shaft would exit for the winches.

The diverter provides the return port. When that assembly is bolted on where a single blade lift valve would alternatively be, the external valve pressure port is on the left side of the tank valve body, sending that line down the left frame rail. Oil returns from the external valve down the right side frame rail into the port on the four bolt plate on that side of the tank valve body, dumping oil in the top of the tank. Look at a diverter assembly and you will see the return port in the four bolt plate I mention.
I have also used the filter port in the tank to return oil to it from a spool valve bank and auxilary tank by welding a pipe elbow to a four bolt plate onto the filter port

HD6 tractors that were fitted with rippers. I`m not sure if any of the last production run of tractors had blade tilt cylinders fitted, but if the y did, that would have been another application for the diverter. Tractors on ag work needing only one external circuit would be another. Tractor yards like the one Dave mentioned are the places to go looking

My parts book says tank number 625899 for HD6's s/n 11094 and above provises extra ports on the rear of the tank. One of my HD6G's has this tank even though it is a 1956 model because it had a ripper. The tank has an additional spool valve. I wish it still had the ripper.

Just checked 3/4 pipe thread on left side of lift valve. It has no pressure so might be a return? Anyone know any place else to get pressure? Help!!!!!

Could possibly go to a HD6G series tank and valve for a loader, then you would have the functions available with the valving all built together with the reservoir set up for the volume.

I would consider just adding a BeeGee pump on the rear for added Hydraulics. Otherwise the early HD-6 setup would be a better bet for adding valving with an HD-6G tank/valving from a loader if you need more valving in place of the dozer unit for a rear ripper. Some folks have done a major rework of the later HD-6 Front Hydraulic setup using a generic valve spool up by the Operator, but it tends to slow the hydraulics.

The one I had was a cable running from the top left of the dash bulkhead, down along the right side of the main frame up to the front hydraulic unit.

these pics show a diverter valve arrangement for a hd5g or hd6g loader, can't remember which. the principle is what I was going to use for my hd5b once I find and can afford the ripper. the diverter valve locks out the other function and holds it there while the ripper is used. you do not need both at the same time so it would work well and just one valve would do the trick. just make sure the ports are big enough. definitely need both circuits as the ripper cylinder is a 2 way cylinder. good luck.

I wish it were mine! that is a loader sitting a museum of a local guy who takes it to shows occasionally, otherwise it sits in a warm museum next to a lot of mack trucks. My loader looks more like rust. I hope someday for it to look like that.
