I recently purchased another WD with the intent to use as a parts tractor. To my suprise I found that the serial number is very low! As in one of the first off of the line. Is there somewhere that I can find detailed info on when and where the tractor was sold, etc. All I have been able to find is the year. Thanks!

Thanks I checked out the registry. It's disappointing to hear that there's no historical information out there on these tractors.

Greg I would keep it as it may be the earliest WD left. I used to own RC 8 and sold it for a good amount becuz of the low number.

The stamp on the engine block where the engine serial number is shows WD 345. No KA or PA after and is way off from any engine serial number I can find.

Greg, does it look like the rest of the number wasn't stamped or was ground off? Check this page out http://wsmth.people.clemson.edu/SNFind/esn_tsn5.htm WD engine numbers start in the 200xxx range. It's possible you have a very late WD instead with an engine number of 345xxx. Can't always date a tractor by the engine block as it may have been changed anyway. Find the tractor no. on the back left side of the differential or on top along the edge by the left brake cover.

Bill I have the tractor serial number and I was trying to see if the engine was origional to the tractor. The engine serial number does not appear to have been ground at all. I guess its possible it wasnt stamped. It has the shorter head, which to my understanding is the older engine. Of course the head could have been changed at some point also.
