I have wondered on how rollers are welded together in true allignment and until now had not see it. Have heard of friction welding before and have seen it where bearings have failed and welding was the result but first time i have seen a video of actual process.

That was cool.
Never done metal but have been involved with variations of the same thing on engineering plastics. (Getting ultrasonic welds to seal perfectly is tough.)

Drill bits with different shank/flute sizes are assembled with this process.

I remember going through the CAT plant in Decatur, IL and watching them put gears on shafts that way. Really amazing.
