me thinks the onlyest things they fish for in AZ is them danged ole snakes! Yeah,,,but you gonna have to use something better than them danged ole night crawlers for bait,,,,,,,,we like to use coyote parts that been stored in a hermetically sealed shaded glass jar for 23 days in fermented ACV with a couple of pkgs of yeast,,,,,,UMMmmm Black Label works in a pinch if you ain't got some ACV,,,,works every time,,,,,,, ![]() ![]() |

NOW you KNOW Spring has finally arrived ! Seeing worms means the frost is 100% out of the ground and you can finally get into the fields. However, thanks to the Shameless machine's 'donation' last weekend we're 2 weeks behind....sigh, snff, waa.... Jay

Hey Tom!! Lots of fishing here in AZ. Night crawlers are imported. My backyard is the 15th fairway that they water, but I never see crawlers. Don't think there is much fishing opportunity near Quartzsite. We will move up to ShowLow the 15th where we spend the summers. Have my boat up there. We catch a lot of trout, (rainbow and cutthroat), walleye, and catfish. Best lake is Big Lake at 10,200 ft elevation and 60 miles from Showlow. Two lakes within a mile of our park. Wind this month and next is always a problem!!!

Almond ill have to see if the grandson wants to come along. He graduates this year. Problem is, hes got so much fishing stuff I might have to leave the old gal at home. Laughing smiling face goes here. Wondering how that'll work? Ok Shameless my old pal usta go rattle snake hunting in South Dakota. He claims they are great on the BBQ. The darn things are on the endangered list in Iowa now. I might try some when I get out there.

Armand I see spell check changed the spelling of your name in my last post. I overlooked it sorry. Grand son was here today wand we talked about him comming out for a week and doing some fishing. Is it warm enough to fish in those locations in Dec,Jan, or Feb. Can a person even get to those lakes. Seems like they might be pretty high up. Can a guy get a fishing license close by. Thank You. And again sorry about spell check messing up your name.

Ole Johnny walked around for a month lookin like he had lost his best friend,,,,,,then,,,,,,,then,,,,a couple of weeks later he got bit by a snake he was fixin to prepare for grocery time,,,was in the hospital for a week and dang near died,,,!!! Tom, no problem on the name spelling!! It usually ends up being Armando!! There are some smaller lakes here in the valley that they stock in the winter months. I call them ponds. It is kind of like combat fishing tho!! There are some lakes further to the NE, like Saguaro, Apache, and Roosevelt, but mostly bass lakes I think. The lakes up in the higher elevations freeze up in the winter months. The ice should be out of Big Lake which is at 10,200 feet when I get up there next week, but we will probably fish the lower lakes first.

There's a rattle snake cook out every year where you can get some. I THINK it was in Texas someplace.
I've still got my broom handle with wire loop from years ago when I hunted them. You'll get a LOT sicker from a baby than from an adult. Guy over outside of Hokah, MN had the skin tacked to his barn. I don't remember the size, but it was BIG!! He taught me how to hunt them,,,,,but I only used a little of his learnin cause he'd been bitten SO many times.... |

Armand, we are wondering what the temp is like at the 10000' level in AZ in July or Aug? This older motor home doesn't have a washer or dryer in it like some of these modern units I would hate to have the old gal out there in 100° heat beating clothes clean on a rock. Heck I'd probably be the one getting??? No supper.

Tom, decades ago when our sons were teens and we did a lot of camping, a fellow camper put couple gallon of wash water and some soiled clothing in a five gallon milk can, added the lid, laid the can down on top if rear trailer bumper, then secured the can. By the time he reached his next destination the clothes were well washed. Herb(GA)

Tom, ShowLow is at 6500ft elevation. It is usually 25 degrees cooler there on any given day than here in Mesa. When it is 115 here, it is in the high 80s in ShowLow. A few degrees cooler at Big Lake which is at 10,200ft.
