Hi, I'm adjusting the steering bands on a HD6. The cavity was full of water. Are they made to be oil bath or run dry? Thanks in advance

If you can easily access the steering bands then it is a dry backend undo the drain plugs under each steering compartment, you may need to flush out with a solvent to get rid of the oil and grease which would have come up with the water, if you are not using near water leave the plugs out.

These machines have dry stering cluch and after removing the plugs and draine you could start the machine and pull your 2 stering cluch levers and angaged the transmission and the master cluch than the stering cluch will turned free for dry the discs

Use the search feature at the top. There are many posts about the steering clutches. If the compartment was full of water they are probably
frozen. The brake band is on the steering clutch drum.

Thanks. Had to remove the fuel tank and covers to access them to adjust the bands anyway. Thanks again
