gallon jug of vinegar, 1 cup salt, 1/8th cup dishsoap. more or less.... if you warm up the vinegar, the salt disolves faster.. put on AFTER morning dew is burned off, say 10-11 Am, by 2-3 PM you should see them curling up !

24d is illegal for homeowners to use here in Ontario ,now IF you're a golfcourse NO LIMIT..... I'd love a selective 'field bindweed' herbicide.... |

Jay is it just hard to find Weed be Gone,or for real the snowflakes up your way did away with it. It may be 2 years but told Wally World had it here in The Land Of Fruits And Nuts still, they just had a new name on it.
Joe you be careful I just got government approved for the year to
use the good stuff. And they keep hiring cute ![]() little things that ant never hoed the whole row for weeds yet. With a straight face she asked me if had considered other methods than spraying chemicals to control thistles on 300 acres. But in the end she told me coffee is more deadly than Roundup. That has been Monsanto's answer to how dangerous Roundup is for years. So just buy the consecrate of brand China stuff at TSC and get them weeds. It will be cheaper than 500 gallons of vinegar. (but who knows what toxic wast Chine sends back hide in there weed spray) |

In Illinois you can buy a gallon of generic roundup (glyophate) or 2-4-D for about $15. at any Farm Store... the good stuff, plenty strong.......... dont need a special permit or nothing.......
Again, if you use ROUNDUP it is going to kill the grass and the weeds... EVERYTHING.

Couple of years ago I had some ice melt and dissolved some in a five gallon bucket. Real PITA and took forever. Screened about 10 gallons into a small pull behind atv sprayer. Shot it under an electric fence I had pigs in, about 800 ft. Killed everything for that whole year. Tried it again and I think it's eco friendly crap and acted like I fertilized it. Haven't been able to find any that worked since.

2-4-d does a good job on most weeds including dandelions.......... If your trying to kill clover (and dandelions) you need something with Dicamba in it... Look at the store and see if you find a weed killer with 2-3 % Dicamba in it... works good..... but normally comes with 5-10% 2-4-d also.

Came across a post from one of my cousins with a recipe that was Epsom salt and water that you spray on tomatoes, peppers and roses that improved the growth. Magnesium in it improved growth. |

Ok weeds MUST be DRY, not even lightly damp, BEFORE spraying at least an hour or 2..... on a hot, summer day I put the mix on around 11AM and by 3-4 that day, they're shivelling up. We still got some 'purdy' up here, NO worms ( robins are pissed...) so most ground is still froze cold. Rhubarb is just poking up..special spot, south facing, great drainage, slope

This site says a few days to kill the plants. But as Jay says, they may show signs of shriveling in 3-4 hours. Now this all being said, you probably have the toughest orneriest mutant weeds on the planet.

With 2-4-D they are flopped in less than a half hour! ---gotta be above 60 degrees at night for any killer to work. --- also dry when put on. some is rainfast in half hour,--some is never rainfast, so kinda iffy as to how long it would take. I always spray the yard with 2-4D every year after it warms up and weeds growing good and several inches tall. works every time.

I will let you in on secret guaranteed to kill anything including you if your not careful. The old gone bad gas in all the cars and trucks sitting out back. Getting second gas tank on a pickup with 2 going after the one had quit because of switch trouble. Had some real stinky stuff, and didn't want a toxic waste dump so put it in a hand sprayer to spread it around. In 5 minutes you see them weeds just turn brown, but it was in hot summer time, so may take 20 or 30 when colder. But I bet it is far more toxic than any weed killer you can buy,so just cause it be cheap you look out. |
