I was just on a Heavy Equipment forum and they were talking of diesel fuel running thru the tourque converter on a HD 16  ? Howd that work ??

I don't know a lot about torque converters but they did use diesel as the fluid in some of the early ones on dozers.Caterpillar had problems with them so they changed to using oil in later ones in Caterpillar D8 any way.

Allis Chalmers were the first to use a torque converter in a crawler tractor. It was a 3 stage twin disc unit in the HD14C. and used diesel fuel as its drive fluid.
Next came the HD19 and 15 then the 20, and early HD16s and 21s.
Later HD16AC and DC models and HD21A models changed to a single stage oil filled converter.

i have hd16 i rebuilt torque convertor in years ago that runs on diesel fuel if anyone tries to rebuild one be very carful taking it apart the inside is made of carbon and will break very easy just wanted to let everyone know hope this helps

Operators have told me that as long as the tank was full of fuel to absorb the heat you were OK, With low fuel late in the work day, the torque converter temperature would  rise dramatically.
