At the airport to pick up the wife. When I left, the flight was on time. Got about 2/3rd of the way to the airport, 40 miles and I get a text that it will be an hour late! I hope the delay was on the ground!!

One of the reasons I don't like flying commercial, especially out of the mega airports. Hopefully it was a ground delay but at times air traffic control will put them in a holding pattern if things get really hectic but an hour for that would be way too long.

It can present some inconveniences sometimes.....but there's still no faster safer way if you've got a lot of miles to cover. Stuff happens. No different than you getting stuck in a traffic jam for people rubber necking an accident headed the other way, then the wife is waiting on you for an hour while you make your way through.
