Dyno testing today results:  High idle of 2500 RPM max...…..85 PTO HP @ 2300 RPM...…...84 PTO HP @ 2200 RPM's...……. when lugged down to 1650 engine RPM's where the PTO runs at 540 RPM like D-17's were designed to operate, we had 66 to 67 HP.  The chassis has a One-Ninety triple-section hydraulic pump and the original High-pressure belly pump still installed. This test at 1650 RPM kind of proves that the One-Seventy diesel tractor (rated at 1800 RPM engine speed) surely could have had this 4-cylinder version of a 190 XTD engine, and with a tighter exhaust housing on the turbo, could have easily developed 54 PTO HP @ 1800 RPM and had the turbo sneeze point down to 1300-1400 RPM. Sadly, they chose a Perkins instead. The turbo A-C engine would have cost more, but the performance would have been unmatched and it would have been the one-and-only turbo diesel tractor in the 50 to 60 HP class. Thinking about hitching up the D-17 XT to a 7 ft brush cutter and whacking down some brush to give it a real world performance test at 1650 and even more rpm's.

Wow! Now that should make one nice tractor. Would be nice to see a video of it on dyno for 20 or 30 sec. 😀

I REALLY hope they have the Amana show this year! However, not holding my breath. Looks like a boring summer. Not even too optimistic for our MIAPA show first weekend of August.
