The bottom of the drag hangs a fair bit lower than the chain.I don't see that feature in your new chain.

Thats not my recollection...but I will check out an original to be sure...I gave the manufacturer the original; will call him as well.

Ok will do.
 
On the drag chain, my understanding is the bar is flared on the ends to mate up with the elevated mounting tabs on the link. this allows the bar to be flush with bottom of the link whilst being connected to the higher situated tab. Becasue of this bend, if one looks at the top of the chain, one would get the impression that the bar was lower than the link.
