Hey all, wondering if a distributor from a series 1 D17 with power steering pump would fit on a WD45? If so, does anyone have specs on the pump GPM/pressure?

I have a 45 that already has a char Lynn power steering but wondered about using a distributor pump for auxiliary hydraulics for a front loader.

If you do that you will have to remove the hood to put oil in the engine....just like a D17. I doubt that pump would have enough gpm to work a loader.

I think a new pump was about 8 GPM's, but they were a max of 1600 psi. An old pump would be less on gallons because of wear. They aren't a heavy duty pump as they have no wear plates on  the sides of the gears. Many times when driving the tractor the pressures never reach 1200 psi, so they aren't made for something like loader work.

Fair enough. I knew someone here would know.

I’m starting to work on building my WD-19??? Front half was originally a 45 diesel that had a 6 cylinder gas out of a gleaner combine swapped in (D-19 engine) Back half is a 45 gas that had a hole in the block. I have the diesel radiator, hood and tank. Anything else I should expect to run into? I assume the bellhousing back was the same gas or diesel?

True WD45 diesel chassis had a 15% slower ring and pinion in the rear end and the PTO box was different as it was also geared slower. But, other than that, everything is the same.

Thanks Doc. We used to run diesels when I was a kid and I thought they were slower.

Should be quite a tractor when I get it done. I will be adding a hydraulic loader and mostly using as a plow/loader tractor.

They weren't really slower as the engine RPM was 15% faster to make the actual speeds the same as a gasser.
