Yup.  I think the entire 5000 series were import machines.

They were and AC was one of the first to do this I think- if Allis were still in business I don't think parts would be such a problem as today for those models- actually the 6000 series was a smart move as it saved a ton of cash in engineering etc and still put together in West Allis

2/3 to 3/4 of all current tractor lines are same base machine under different color tins and slight of hand controls alterations. No point in complaining of Allis doing that 60 years ago.

So many Deere owners think their under 70 HP utility tractors built since the late 1960's were built in Waterloo, Iowa !! Not True !!!

For Deere, I'm thinking West Germany.

White sold rebranded Fiats, and even 2 David Browns in the 60's, way before AC did it. Look up Oliver 1250,1255,1350,1355 etc, also Moline's versions were G350, G450? And the Oliver David Browns, the Oliver 500 and 600.

Then there's Deere's skid steers. Early were Owatonna's, then made by New Holland. Riders were Areins with Yanmar motors instead of Kohler. Kools made JD blowers. Many successful companies had focused on one product line and bought the other equipment from outside sources.

Deere rebadged mower conditioners that were built by Owatonna. Round balers for Deere were Vermeer. IH used hesston hay equipment badged as IH. Crenlo was building front cut Deere lawn mowers. Cat hired Crenlo to build cabs as did Deere, New Holland, J.I. Case, White and the Allis 6000 series cabs were also built by Crenlo.

At one point in the 1980's Allis Chalmers 6000 series were the only under 100 hp tractors built in the United States, though parts were built by Fiat/Hesston.

Does anyone know where the 6000 series rear half were built?

6060/6070/6080 are all FIAT powertrains/hydraulics with an AC engine, and styling.

When White came out with the 60 & 80, they were called the "American series" because they were the only small tractor made in America at the time. Those were great little tractors, revised Oliver 1555/1655 drivetrain, with some modern improvements, and the Cummins 4B & 4BT engines.
I always find it funny when a guy talks about his Deere compact tractor having a Yanmar engine. Um, hello, the whole tractor is a Yanmar lol!

White, Cockshutt, and Minneapolis-Moline is unique in this discussion, as they were amalgated through acquisition and cross merger along with Hercules (industrial engines) and several other industries over the timeframe of 1947 through 1960 or so.

My neighbor's Deere compact utility  was made completely in India.  All the attachements, too.. bear MADE IN INDIA.

Badge engineering though, is a relative term.  It is important to determine 1) Who OWNS the manufacturing facility and 2) IS the product originally of some OTHER manufacturing marque?

The Mitsubishi/Chrysler cooperative period of the mid '80s is a prime example:  The Dodge D50 diesel compact pickup truck my grandfather drove, was a Mitsubishi-made machine, the only identification otherwise, was the DODGE labeling and exterior.  Mitsubishi dealers sold the exact truck under their name... and they did it before, AND after.  Mitsubishi is a perfect example, as it's cooperative history spans most major manufacturers worldwide... and the were in the habit, like many, of selling stock portions to companies with which they fostered business agreements.

EVERY major manufacturer sold their machines to other manufacturers for two purposes:

1) to further the production scope and sales of THEIR products and
2) to reduce their parters' desire to develop a competing product.

In both cases, the reality was co-beneficial symbiosis... both sides won.

If both sides won, then who lost?  Well, to a certain extent, the consumer... because amalgation of competing resources deprived the marketplace of true competition... like having the choice of buying a Chevy S10, or an Oldsmobile Bravada, or a GMC Jimmy, you're getting the same car.  Yep, prices will be a little different, the trim a little different, but same otherwise.

Skid steers... Most of the 'brand' names you see, came from one of mebbie two or three manufacturers.  My Case 4130 is a Hydra Mac 6C.  You can find it in just about ANY color from yellow to green to probably three shades of blue... and they're all the same machine, with the same air-cooled Onan NHCV that burned up.  You can buy a Lawn-Boy mower, and several different brands of chain-saw in yellow, red, and green.  You can even buy green bicycles identified as "RARE" on Craigslist and Ebay... just ordinary repainted department-store grade.

It is the way of business.
Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.

The cross dressing like you mention, I've always attributed it to giving the other line dealers a similar car to sell, in the case of the S Blazer/Bravada deal.

My little brother is a platform engineer (nerd) for case in. One of his first project was a utility tractor, early 2000s. He got the tool, dies and d field working for the allis d series , took it to Turkey to make frames shipped to east Germany for powertrains then brazelton England for electronic and cowlings. It was a great success, so the moron at case ih asked him to do it for less money. They moved it to India and it was an incredible disaster and they fired my brother. So a little part of allis tractors made it to the 21st century

Guy down the road from me has a JD 850, I have a Yanmar 2020D, that guy used to bust my chops 7 ways to Sunday over my "rice grinder" on & on he would go about buying American made products. He drove by one day and yelled at me how my rice grinder was running. I followed him home on my rice grinder and showed him his JD 850 actually has Yanmar stamped on it more places than my Yanmar does.i haven't heard anymore out of him

Had an engineer come by the dairy in the ‘90s don’t remember who he worked for at the time but he told me he worked for Deere back in the ‘80s and was let go when all equipment lines was struggling. He worked in the hay and forage division said when they was developing any piece of equipment they would go and buy all the competitors equipment and use them on a research farm and they would try to pick the pest qualities of each and try to develop a prototype of it then go to testing and the manufacture. Said sometimes because of legalities couldn’t use some things so they would have to buy the product or have them manufacture it for Deere   We used to have a mower conditioner and there was a plate on the cutter bar that said manufactured by Kuhn for John Deere
