Hey howdy! New to the forum, just got my Great Grandpa's '36 Allis Chalmers Model WM delivered closer to home so I can fix and use it. It's a wide track model with extra wide grousers. Needs some love but I got the magneto rebuilt and the engine is not frozen. Tracks are free and one of the steering clutches broke loose while they were loading it. The other one is still stuck.
It's crank start but I heard there's some modern starters that will bolt right up? Would I need to convert to 12v? I would like to get a blade for it, might need to fabricobble one. Where are the blade mounts in the track assemblies? Tanks are super rusty, as is the radiator. Best methods for cleaning those? I think that's it. Thanks, and I hope you like it! |

You wont find a blade for that one. That has swamp pads on it, really rare.
Do you need a dozer? If so i would start with something more common and newer for the parts availabilty. |

Are the blades on these all home build then? or is it the fact that it is extra wide?
Yeah kind of, I do have an opportunity on a 1950s International dozer that was completely rebuild. Part of putting a blade on this would be the fun of doing it. Going to restore it regardless. Don't have any need for a farm tractor, I need a skidder or a dozer. However, I could easily just have a blast roaming the hills in this.

Mine has a home built apparatus for a dozer blade. I plan to remove it if I can find a pto unit for it, don't know why, probably won't use it either.

Can you get some steel wheels? I tend to do most everything with a handheld brush cutter. Heavy string does almost everything I want to cut. metal blades are a little scary in the summer here.

Would be grateful if you posted a picture of your home build blade. Looking for a PTO as well, preferably the gear reduction one.

Little update, just done dickering with the crawler today. Cleaned out some mud daubers from the exhaust, kicked out some paper wasps from the air cleaner, shook out some wasps from the carb, pulled some moths i think from the combustion chamber. Then I timed up the magneto, cleaned the plugs, new wires, poured in a little gas and started cranking. Did that off and on all day and got maybe a slight cough or two. I got blisters on my fingers. Was packing up when I thought I'd stuff a rag in the exhaust and see if I could push it out with the compression. Instead the rag got sucked in. So looks like stuck valves and now I really gotta get into it! Should be fun. Anyone want pictures?
