    Posted: 19 May 2020 at 1:51pm
Trying to restore my grandfather's D15 and ran into a problem. The front axle support is broken around one bolt hole and the bolt is missing, another bolt hole is cracked. Is there any way to fix this without finding a new axle support and how hard is it to take out and fix/replace? How do I know if it's the heavy duty axle or not?

most ALLIS parts were  Cast Steel and not Cast Iron... Cast Steel can be welded with good success and machined back to size. you would have to take the bracket off and have a good welder repair the area.... then grind down as needed and redrill/ tap the holes.  A good machine shop might do the entire job for you.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I wonder what your front pivot hole will look like? Can't tell by pic, but I think it will be worn severely. Probably find a good used one fairly easy. HTH Tracy

I'm guessing there's NO bushing in the pivot hole......found that out on 'Troy' here... it ALSO busted a tab on thebellhousing where the wishbole connects.
yeah that allowed the axle to drop out...diagonally the furthest point from the house of course....

I've only found one axle support online for just over $300 shipped. I haven't called about salvage tractor parts yet. I'm thinking a good machine shop would probably charge well over $300 to fix what i have.

The pivot hole isn't too bad with what i can see. Haven't taken anything apart yet. I can't tell if there's a busing in there or not.

If you want to do it right. Fix the bushing hole in the new used part.Bushing can be longer for more wear surface. Make the pivot pin new and longer. Weld it to axle tube. Must be straight and inline with rear pivot.I make my bushing from 954 aluminum bronze.  I have fixed several this way. HTH Tracy Martin
