I had a real problem getting my 45 diesel primed the first time. I ended up cheating and cracking the lines and wrapped a towel around a air nozzle and put small shots of air into the tank to "pressurize the system". got the air all worked out and to the pump and then it still took alot of cranking to get it all bled out. I would crack all the lines at the injectors and crank it till it starts leaking by the injectors and then tighten them up. I remember it took a good part of the day doing this with giving the battery some charging time and the starter some resting time.
