working on an old farmall h replacing the gauges and painting and decals, cant get the stud for the temp gauge outta the block. tried heating and no luck any ideas its some kinda on there thanks

yeah, I gots one of them too..... still a 'work in progress' there's 2 kinds of sensors. one goes into a 'well' that's mtd in the block, the other just gets screwed into the block, usually with an adapter 'bushing'. One problem is that most aftermarket stuff is actually Metric, 'made' to fit Imperial.... You might win by putting a pipewrench on the 'nut' closest to the block. That way when the metal deforms the sensor will keep it reasonably intact. I'd try a quick,hard pull but not too far. Rust has 'sealed' the threads. IF it loosens, go back and forth a zillion times, if you try to just crank it out, the rust WILL rebind the pieces up solid again, maybe worse ! It's one of those ..gotta have patience and THINK before you act PITA jobs. Now if you want to practice...... come on up ! ![]() jay |
