What are the chances of finding the pie weights for the rear of my series IV D17?

Should I settle for the earlier one piece weights?

Thanks

When I bought my Series II D-17, it had the pie weights on it.
Each piece weighs about 75 lbs so the weights add about 300 lbs per wheel.
Nope.........ain't gonna sell 'em.  LOL
If you look thru the Pics of D-17s in the post back a few pages, I don't think
you will see one with the pie weights. That's what makes me think they're a little
rare. On the other hand, you would have thought a lot of farmers would have
bought them considering the power of the D-17?
There seems to be no shortage of the 1 piece A-C weights out there.

The Series IV weights should be the same as the 170/175/180/185 weights if you have the correct wheels.   Casting number AM4483-1

Good Luck  finding them!

Eldon,

Shouldn't that casting number be 4493?
That's what mine are and they look exactly like yours.

If there are "a lot of people" with those sectional (pie) weights "sitting in farmer scrap piles" like Joe says, its time to dig them out 'cause I bet there's a few guys out there willing to pay a lot more than "scrap" price for 'em!

I worked 2 1/2 years in a busy scrap yard running a magnet and grapple in the short iron department. I seen alot of suit case weights and oil field weights but never remember pie weights. Wish now I would have saved one or two unstyled WC,s.

If you click on the pic on the link you can see my numbers. 4493 is for the early D17, these have a round knob cast in them for some reason.

I believe the round knobs aid in stacking on the wheel

OK Eldon,
I can see that yours are 4493-1; the 1 must be the design change code.
And when I did look closely at your weight I could see the knob you're speaking of.

I was looking at my weights and I have three of the 4493 without the knob. I would be interested in trading for 4493-1 if someone has them.

Just recently there was someone on here who bought a d17 with a loads an pie weights that wanted to sell them. I don't remember who it was but yes a wanted add in the classified section would help plus try searching the posts for the set that was for sale.

Are you wanting an actual single pie weight(one section) or normal wheel weight? Keep in mind a pie weight is just a section like a pie slice not a complete one piece weight. A D17 would have 4 pieces per side,a D19/190 or bigger would have 6.

I'm the fella that just bought the D17 and would love to sell the weights. They are the #am 4493 pie weights. The problem with selling them seems to be my location, Holt county Nebraska.
