Oppossums and skunks killed off my chickens several times- they don't get that far anymore.

My wife placed sticky tray traps in kitchen cupboards to catch mice.  Why?  Well, when they get into your food, dishes, utensils, tupperware, etc., then urinate and deficate in it, you can be really certain that your family's health will decline.  She reasoned that the sticky-trap would be 'more humane' than the electronic ('Rat Zapper') or the variety of spring traps. 

We have a team of cats inside and outside the house that are formidable sentries that kill mice that aren't wise enough to maintain cover, but there's plenty of places in the house that cats simply cannot reach.

Consider the psychological ramifications of a sticky trap... and being hunted down by a feline many orders of magnitude larger than yourself...  they don't sound so appealing in comparison to a quick, sudden extinguishing.

Take a mouse, and increase it's size by about 1600x.  Give it practically opposable thums, with more nerve endings in it's fingers, than in your entire body, then add the cognative capacity to operate a combination lock... and give it the constitution to poop every two minutes, and the strength to break windows, peel steel siding, pull nails and chew through hardwood planks...  And rather than pooping in your cupboards, it breaks into your barn, tears through five layers of heavy canvas tarps, into a 1954 Century Resorter with ORIGINAL INTERIOR, and in a matter of one hour, turns an $86,000 piece of marine history, into a destroyed mess...  Watch it tear the hinges off the upper door of your grain bin, climb in, and ruin 16,000 bushels of perfect corn... and rip off the belts of your stirrator... destroy your hay bales, make your horses and cattle sick.

It's not some fascination with cruelty... it's about protecting what you've built.

I made specific note of 'city people', because what I described above-  'relocating' is what 'city people' think is somehow morally superior.  To protect THEIR homes, they live-trap, then transport animals to an alien environment, and set them free, where those animals invade someone ELSE's domain.

City people drive down my road, and while they're driving, throw unwanted cats, kittens, and dogs out the windows of moving cars...  I have no idea how they can justify that action as being in ANY way morally acceptable, as most of the time, the animals that survive, are severely injured.  Apparently they believe these domesticated animals can fend for themselves (most can't), and they fail to realize that a dog or cat with a broken leg, dislocated hip, or partially blinded, winds up being chased by packs of coyotes until it dies of exhaustion.

Dealing with problems is not something that can be judged from a position well-insulated from another's realm.  I've never had problems with armadillos or wild boars, never had carpenter bees, termites, buzzards, tree squirrels, or badgers... no wolves, no bears, and no poisonous snakes here, but I won't judge someone who does... and I don't mind venison in my refrigerator, but my wife doesn't allow it... so I don't hunt deer... but I won't turn down deer sausage sticks EVER!

I live trapped  bunch t my daughter's house using dry ct food.  But that was readily available an was also what was initially attracting them.

The last two SOB's started moving the trap to eat the food that was originally inside. 

 I screwed the trap to the deck and they could not resist and I got their butts and relocated them.  Kinda unnerving unscrewing the trap from the deck so I  could take the ole boar for a ride. 

If I used anything other than marsh mellows, I would always have a trap full of cats in the morning.  I guess if you need to trap cats the other stuff will work.
