I guess my question is that since the first 260 IB's had no specific serial #'s, who's to say it's a look-a-like or an original?

Sure looks homemade, but it would be neat to see how it was done.
Guess I don't feel like driving 4 hours south to look at it, so I'm not curious enough haha.

Heck you're only 2+ hours away. I'd have to drive 5.5 one way.

I'm actually at Urbana for school right now. Actually putting it into to Google Maps tells me it's a little over 3 hours. There has to be someone that's closer; I know we have members down that way.

It is my opinion that there were several "batches" of early IB's. Based on serial numbers I have seen, the first "batch" was numbered 31101 - 31200. The next "batch" started with 40xxx, I think.
I have #31197.

It says right in the top corner of the ad that it is NOT an IB, just a look-alike.

If the seller has dated the tractor correctly as a 1938 model, then that year falls outside the early 260 IB's range of 1939 to 1941.

It is only opinion at this point, deduced from known tractors serial#'s, and some other tidbits. I would hesitate to publish it at this point, as the data I have is incomplete. Bob's post does tie into the theory I currently embrace though. It would be nice to scare up as many B Serial# IBs as possible, to see where the ranges fall.

The front axle looks to be set back 6"-8", and the wishbone appears to be square rather than round. Interesting.

I'll help you out by one Glenn. I've got B50472 1941. I've downloaded these IB numbers from somewhere ? It may have been here ? IB numbers by year 1939 113 1940 70 1941 75 This may help but I see it doesn't add up to 260. I don't know how accurate they are ?
