Carb float height WD45?

I have the carb off my WD45 for a good cleaning and wonder what the float height should be? Right now it has some dirt in it and whenever it is shut off gas runs out the intake hose. Thanks Tom

General rule of thumb is float is level with body when turned upside down setting on valve seat.Bad needle/seat will definitely flood when parked.

I don't know the float details of that carburetor, but tends to be close to the top of the float parallel to the seam of the float bowl.

While you have it off, check to see if the needle is sealing. I use lung pressure on the gasoline inlet. It should flow freely with the float down and the float bowl empty or off. It should stop for all the lung pressure you can supply with the carburetor upside down. If it doesn't probably the needle and seat are worn and not sealing. I've had that on another tractor.

 Lots of good carb rebuild info on here and on line too. And that leaking is why after 60 years I still try to shut the gas off at the sediment bowl when not running. They were notorious for getting a speck of dirt in there and flooding the carb.
