How I spent my summer vacation!

Back earlier in the year I asked on here if anyone had had their penis scoped.  I got varying answers and in the end got it done.  Not a real comfortable experience.  Especially the preliminary one in the Dr.s office.  Well, the lab results was I had bladder cancer.  I finally got in for surgery mid July.  My brother said I was on the table for nine hours.  The surgery was performed by robot so them things shouldn't be taking over any jobs if they're that slow!  I was in the hosp for five days.  BTW, their food sucks!   About a week after I got home,  the Dr. called me with the pathology report.  There was a high grade cancer in my bladder and a lower grade in my prostate.  The procedure is to take out the prostate at the same time due to the two being so integrated.  He also said that I was cancer free, that it had all came out within the organs.  He has also told me that it could show up again at any time, any where.  I do not require any chemo or radiation treatments.  I am so grateful for that it is beyond words.  I was just in for my post op visit and he was really impressed with how well I looked.  During our meeting he did suggest I consider a new immunotherapy.  It is being tried out as a replacement for chemo.  You get one treatment a month for several months, and there are supposedly little to no side effects.  I think I'm going to have him see if he can get that set up for me.  So, anyway the only side effect I currently have is a bag glued to my side as a new bladder.

Sorry for being so long winded with this, but I feel very good with the outcome, considering all of the horror stories I have heard of cancer experiences of others throughout my life, including that of my Mother!
