Signed a Right to Repair for owners and independent mechanics
Not giving access to ‘proprietary’ or engine adjustment applications but ability to see faults and allow access to repair ability is open.

Local dealer here is State Wide, having same issue, ends up leasing machines, machine dies carry out another, swap and the broken one sits until can get time to look at.

Same here,  as of now I have 2 deere, 2 agco, 2 case dealers with in 30 miles east or north of me and they are all worthless.  No mechanics worth a except on agco dealer and one deere, however I heard good things about 1 case dealer that bought out the older one, but service is basically non existent in this day and age.  What are you going to do, the ma pa stores are gone it's just one big multi store now and they have you over the barrel, where you going to go?Angry

engine controls I understand....needed to maintain the EPA LAWS.......

well the real 'fun' will be when WHO determines what 'propriatory' means !!!

I agree though, should BY LAW, be able to stick a 'reader' in and get told exactly WHAT 'sensor' has failed AND what the 'bad' numbers are.....but even cars don't tell that tale.....

I'm surprised people haven't bought a part from Deere and reverse engineered it and sold it cheaper on some of the so called proprietary parts due to being overly tired of their bs.

Rex..
The problem is 'return on investment'..
Post a 'problem part' and it's cost from Deere. Now, figure out what it'll actually cost to reverse engineer (BTDT) , manufacture AND how many pieces to sell to break even, let alone a profit ?

I did reverse engineer a 'communications module' in '85, made some improvements, made 100s of them. When I showed what I'd done, the OEM was kinda 'shocked' as I'd bypassed several 'security features' of the original PCB. Since we used these for ourselves, we saved over 2/3 cost of the OEM boards AND got rid of nasty 2AM phone calls about 'no heat' !
