Yes, they have a fuse inside

The ones I've tore apart , have a ceramic body , about 1/4x 1 1/4 " fuse (old style car type ) fuse.

1st step is to take out the tray and put in ANOTHER room !!!
2nd, grab a philips screwdriver and remove the 12-20 screws, slide the case off
3rd, follow the power wiring and you'll find the fuse.
4th, use ohms to test....beep is good,no beep, it's bad....

You really should replace with a 'ceramic' (white body) fuse. They have better temperature and power ratings, but I've put regular ones in before.be SURE it's rated for 120/240 volts and NOT 32 volts !!! 32 is a CAR(12 v ) fuse....it's go POOF faster than I can type poof !

I have had a couple of these temp switches crap out..They get HOT and open circuit, then will not reset... check continuity, or just jumper the two wires together to test.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Beware of the large capacitor inside.  Most of them produce quite a charge.
I had a microwave that blew the fuse because the capacitor shorted.
Replaced capacitor and fuse and good to go.
Most microwaves anymore are throw away.  Run them until they stop working and get a new one.
Good Luck and Stay Safe.

If the fuse is ok, check the door switch.  Nothing works unless the door is shut or at least if the microwave thinks it's shut.  Usually a small micro switch.  I had to buy 2 when I ordered them, already threw the spare and old one away, wouldn't be able to find it in 5 years if I needed it anyway.

Some microwaves use a fairly heavy power transformer to provide high and low voltage power for operation.  The control circuitry is all low-voltage, the stirrer motor and plate rotator are usually 120vac, and the Magnetron tube plate voltage is usually above 1600v.

Take heed to Bob's warning- if that HV capacitor is charged, it will make a hole right through your hand...

Newer microwaves are lighter, because they use a high frequency switching supply with a cascade-type voltage multiplier circuit... and if it has one of THOSE, there'll be a big control board loaded with fuzz-covered componentry, also plenty of HV capacitors, so do be careful with those.

Do NOT run it with the covers off...

and this is what the Magnetron tube looks like  when removed:

As long as you don't take it out, you don't have to worry about it, but...
See that pinkish-purpleish band?  That's a portion of the ceramic insulator made of Beryllium oxide... in it's solid, undamaged state, it will not hurt you, but in dust format, it is NOT good for you, so treat it as if it was really, really bad asbestos.

My bet is that you've lost one of the safety switches.  If it cooked the fuse, it probably has developed a short in the Magnetron, which makes it disposable.

Now, if it is toast, and it has a power transformer supply, you can extract and repurpose that transformer... you can cut the secondary windings out, cut out the saturation shunts, fit it with six-seven turns of heavy wire, and it becomes a nifty spot-welder, or give it a dozen or two, and you've got the start of a really tough battery charger... double wind it with a series-parallel switch, and it'll do multiple voltages...  Put a rectifier bridge and an adjustable regulator circuit on the other side, and you can use it for a nice regulated DC linear supply...

IF it's dead, fuse is blown, and the Magnetron is at fault, you could yank the board, replace the fuse, find the primary side of the HV step-up, cut it out there, ditch the HV, and run the primary circuit through about 5 turns of 3/8" copper tubing, flow a little cooling water through the copper tubing, and insert metal into the middle of the coil to induction heat it for modern blacksmith, heat treating, or even smelting or small foundry work...

The table rotator motor is good for rotating ornamental fixures, like a ceiling-mounted model of the universe, or a mirrored disco ball, or turning the twisted spiral of a barber-pole.

The ventilation blower is useful for pushing cooling air over a wood stove... as long as they used metal fan blades... if they used plastic, better keep it back a foot or two...
Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.

HEY Guys,,,SUCCESS,,Yes !!  The stove is "microwaving" again,,,And    and    I'm gonna run outa my Prized Black Label if my stuff keeps breaking down,,plus USPS is making a killing off ole Joe havin to ship that "PRIZED stuff all over the country,,,,,,Wink
I opened it up and this just goes to show,,,,,( For anybody that is keeping count),,,,,,,,Wink,,,,that ole Joe's memory might need a little help,,,,,,,,,, I had already been into this thing before but I'll be "Go To Haides" if I can remember  WHY or worst yet,,,WHEN,,??  But the fact remains,,it has been worked before,,,WHO,,??Chit,,,I don't believe folks such as ole Shameless would tackle this type of issue as I discover a black wire that had been taped up with black electrical tape (kinda a Chitty looking job at that) and that is where the issue was. The "repair" spot had arced and separated and e xposed wire ends just laying there,,,,? So, I put a jumper on both wires , plugged it back in and PRESTO it works,,!! NOW,,I am pleading the "Fifth" and I disavow ANY knowledge of such a shoddy repair,,,!!
It really looks like there was a white plastic push connector that had been loose and somebody just taped it over to keep it from moving,,,?? Weird to be sure!
Anyway, Many thanks for Jay (always a character), Gary ( So helpful with links), TAdams (great suggestions, Bob & JW (Same) Dave Kamp (ever present engineer of things needing explicating) and ole Steve-O,,,,whast would I do without all of you guys,,,,one of these days, I hope to be able to THANK everyone in person,,,but will have to buy a bigger trk to carry that much Black Label,,,,,,!!ClapClap

If that’s the case, you better hope that microwave doesn’t have a ‘3-way’ switch on it!!!!
I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.
