When the turbo conversion came out how was it done?
Were complete kits with all the parts, including the radiator and hoods shipped
to the dealer or were all the parts sourced individually through the parts
chain? Also, were there complete installation instructions published for the
conversion? If so, would anyone have a copy of these instructions? Thanks! Pat

As I understood the conversion, all the parts came in a kit: the turbo,
all the lines, the hood, radiator and all the necessary parts to complete the conversion. It seems like the new hood was already painted and had series II decals in place. It was a long time ago, so I could be off on some of the details. I think that the injection pump with Series II settings was also included. I was told that the conversion cost the farmer $600. I seem to recall, also, that the Series II did not use a muffler, just a straight pipe. If I am wrong, some of you old-time Allis guys should correct me. Thanks, Dean(IA) |

I entered $600.00 into an inflation calculator and
$600.00 in 1965 dollars is equal to $4317.24 today. If the kit was in fact priced at around $600.00 in 1965 and it included the hood, radiator, air filter & pipes, oil cooler, manifold & turbo it was a pretty good buy in my opinion. I can understand why such a large percentage of these were converted over.
