I readjusted the wheels on my 175 today, did the first side, locked down the wedges, drove ahead and POW! It had the rectangular head bolts on the clamps, one had rotated 90 degrees which caused it to ride up on the wheel center. When the wheel rotated, it hit one of the top studs on the final drive end cover plate and snapped it off along with the outer portion of the cover. I have no idea why the cover had a stud and not a bolt (all the others were bolts), but the clearances are even very close to the bolt heads. I looked at the rest of the wedge bolts and half were turned the wrong way and some had marks where they had scraped the final drive bolts. I thought it was strange this was the first time I had one hit....maybe some play in the axle bearings?? These were the 185 finals that I swapped in yesterday. I will be sure to pay more attention to them the next time I adjust the wheels!
