I am wondering if anyone has ever put a 400 Allis loader on a 180 and what were the modifications needed if any, and how does it work on that tractor. I am thinking of taking the loader off of a D-17 and mounting in on a 180. thanks in advance for any ideas.

Frame rails are wider on a 180-190-200 than a D17-D19.

We measured the frame rails on the 17 and the 180 and they appear to be within an inch, maybe less and it seemed like the 180 was a little skinnier.

Darrel, Not sure about exact widths of tractors. Take both uprights and bolt them together back to back. Measure the distance of the opening that boom pin to. Inside of one upright to outside of other upright. Note this dimension. Measure boom pin location width, inside of one to outside of other. Note this dimension. This will give you a center to center of each measurement. Now measure the width of frame rails. This dimension will tell you how much shim or interference there will be. HTH Tracy Martin

I also thought the mount was too short, the crossbar will lay on the hood when the mounts are bolted to the frame.
I installed a 500 on my 180, straight up install. |

We put a 400 series loader for a wd45 on our 180, years ago. It was a lot of work, by work i mean cutting and welding. We cut the original frame mounts off the loader and welded on some old 190 frame rails we had so the holes would match the 180 frame with no drilling. Then cut the braces off that go to the rear axle a foot or so behind the uprights and put a piece of angle iron betweeneach side of loader frame to tie them together and make it wide enough to extend rearward fasten to the rear axle in the right place. Long story short this loader ended op being much more rigid than the original and we did not need the top cross bar to tie the uprights together. Still have and use tractor and loader today. It will pick up more than the rear of the 180 can stay on the ground. Wish i had pics, that would probably make more sense than my rambling. Haha
