There is a auction coming up with a 917H lawn tractor on it , comes with a 48" deck aveage condition. How high should I bid?

Depends on how bad you want or need it.  $500 to $1000 depending on condition of motor.

Should have a Kohler motor in it, check for front & rear leaking seals on it. See if the dipstick smells like gas, a lot of them leaked gas into the crankcase because of a clogged breather filter. Check the rear axle seals too.

We paid $550 for ours.  Its a DA version, but in mint condition.
30+ A-Cs ranging from a 1928 20-35, to a 1984 8070FWA, Gleaner R52

If the engine runs OK, and the Hydraulic Lift and Hydrostatic Trans. work OK;
probably close to $1,000.
