Do I use dextron or universal fluid in the hydraulics systems? Thanks.
1945 WC on full steel, WD wide front, WD45 power steering, 1966 D-17IVfactory 3 point.1967 D-17IV SC. 1973 rotobaler white top. orange top roto, model 90 combine,82S, four bottom plow.302 baler.

As the D-17 IV is essentially the same as a 170/175 I would use AC 821 or JD Hy-Guard or the Case/IH transmission fluid...which is a little lighter, but splashes better.. D-17 transmission is designed for "splash" lubrication. I would stay away from the stuff you mentioned. I have a 175 with over 7000 hours on it..use it daily for a chore tractor... no jumping out of gear no problems with the original power director clutch..et al.. in the final analysis you get what you pay for.  Oh, I forgot to add I run my 175 transmission fluid level quite a bit higher than factory spec typically using the Case/IH oil.
