anybody have a clue what this user-added valve is supposed to do? holes were cut into the platform/floorboard to accommodate it, but it doesn't seem to have any effect regardless of lever position. on a 1952 CA.
3 connection points are auxilliary port, pump & right hand ram. apologies for the debris; pictures taken before cleanup. ![]() ![]() |

It looks like a diverter valve....maybe to run a front loader from one port and the rear lift from another. Almost a necessity when using a back blade and front loader at the same time.

Probably a 'Diverter Valve'
My ole eyes arn't good enough to trace out the lines but - the way it works is this: 1 feed line from the tractors hydraulic pump to the valve. 2 lines out drom the valve, 1 to the rear tractor rams, the other line to some other ram Eg. loader The position of the lever on the diverter valve determines where the pressurized hyd. oil goes. I have one on my 49 WD to separate the front loader from the rear lift rams. Gary

The levers up front on the cultivator are only used to adjust the depth....some of the lift linkage to connect to the rear cylinder might be missing....

Looks to me like the left side cylinder is connected at or before the aux port, which also supplies pressure to the diverter valve. Any time the pump is activated, that left side will want to extend. It depends on if the diverter is closed or open to another cylinder with less resistance, as what will actually happen and when.
The B and C had a diverter valve with one cylinder to each side for the 2 way pick up plows. The diverter would hold one up and let you lower and lift the other. |

what, operate a beautifully restored CA with multiple implements on open, flat land with good soil where i might actually be able to grow something useful?
now why would i want to do that...? thanks, eldon for a picture of where i'm headed. just got a very troublesome rusted joint steering rod knocked loose, so now can progess on splitting my own CA, so your inspirational picture is quite timely. (still won't sell you the cultivator though!!!) charlie - sounds like more than i need at the moment but very useful later. like when i get "eldon's" cultivator operational.
