When my brother was 4 or 5 years old my grandmother told him at midnight on New years the cows will stand up on their back feet and bang pots and pans together. For whatever reason that scared him so bad he wouldn't spend the night there for several months

A Southern tradition for a prosperous New Year is a large helping of "Blackeyed Peas" with your New Years Dinner.   You Yanks may call them "Cow Peas" if you like.
I grow several varieties of "Southern Table Peas" and Black Eyes are not one of them. I prefer the taste of "Pink Eyes" , Creams and Crowders.
Got the jump on New Years today with a big pot of Pinkeye Purplehull Peas, Green Shelled and Frozen  simmering with a Ham Bone on the kitchen stove.
They is as good as Fresh Shelled anytime.
This reminds me to place my 2019 seed order of Pea Seeds

Pee Seeds better known as      Kidney Stones .  Ain't had any for some time now.   One seed I can't like even a little bit until it gets peed out.

Ken I agree with you I had one a couple of months ago.  Hurt like h#LL and they tell me it is like a woman having a baby for a pain comparison but more fun starting the baby than having it.

No harm in trying something that tastes great.    Headed back to the table for a second helping .     Pink Eyes in my case.

our new years dinner is in the oven....prime rib, and the wine chilling outside! I thinks we started 2019 off right. we are happy (until someone screws that up), we are alive! we both feel good (right now), we are warm, we have the love of our family (dogs/cats/goat), we have great friends on a great forum!
