CA progress is halted waiting for parts so... got this old garden tractor from xlnt neighbor who got it for free. used till tire blew then has sat for a year. has pedal operated front blade lift; plan to add hydraulic but no existing pto/pump. will start cleanup tomorrow & look for id #s, but thought maybe somebody might recognize it by sight.

The Allis garden tractors of that era were actually yellow.....the Simplicity counterparts were the orange ones.....weird huh?

try simpletractors.com i think some of sears were simplicity rebranded, or slightly modified. they have a cross reference. there are several similarities between yours and simp or allis.

That vintage Sears were still made by David Bradley, I don't think any were AC. Simplicity made tractors for Monky Ward, infact I think it was Wards that talked Simplicity into making garden tractors in the first place , they making other things at that time. Don

first i've seen with a side pulley (non vertical). any clues to how to set up a power lift? primary user joyce has a weak right leg.

Yes,Wards talked Simplicity into making garden tractors in the first place. They were the 2 wheeled ones.

blade assembly has david bradley nameplate, i thot just the implement mfr. lever lift is a good 2nd option... especially if assisted by existing foot lift. but the lady (joyce) works hard, so wanna spoil her if i can with a power assist.

Not an Allis or Simplicity. The Sears suburbans were built by David-Bradley until 1966 or thereabouts. I believe at that time Bradley was acquired by Roper who continued as AYP and is now owned by Husquavarna. These were rugged old tractors but lacked the refined engineering of the AC-Simplicity tractor line.

AC mowerguy beat me to it. Most older Sears tractors were built by Roper. I may be wrong but I believe David Bradly was a Sears brand and the actual machine was build buy other companies for Sears. There was very little sold at Sears that you could buy at Wards and vice versa.

My Dad used to have a wagon gear that he bought mail order from Sears, a David Bradley one which had David Bradley written across the back bolster. Then the serial number plate had printed on it "Sold exclusively by Montgomery Wards. I thought that was quite unique.

in another topic string somebody asked how much of our tractors were original and how much were replacements. i just guessin' here that the spark plug wire is probably "aftermarket" but the sheared off bolt in the lower left is quite likely original equipment... but user altered.
