I work for a bridge construction company and got (5) 60lb bearing shimms from a bridge that we were doing some structural rehab on. I thought they would make a pretty good front weight stack for my WD45 that has a habbit of getting a little light in the front when plowing. I got them home and sand blasted the old paint off and sprayed them black then made a couple brackets out of 4" angle iron and 5/8" all thread. I think it turned out pretty good. How much weight do you guys put on your tractors?

I have always seen 4 of the allis slab weights used(or more) and they are 70 to 75lbs. So thats about right. By the way it looks good and a little bit of grill protection to boot.

Looking good...when I saw the front on pic I thought you might be 'closing off' the grill from wind but the side view shows that your radiator will not suffer from lack of wind.
Nice add.

Good job! You could use Allis 75 lb slab weights from the "Hundred" series to do that as well. I use four "Hundred" series weights on a home built bracket on my D17 Series IV except that they stack out horizontally not vertically. Mike

Thanks! I when I found those, with predrilled holes that all lined up and free to boot, I thought it must be my lucky day. I should have bought a power ball ticket!

In one of the pictures it looks like the top bolt is missing a lockwasher and is not firm against the front plate. All three of those need to be tight or you will wind up breaking out a bolt hole.

I had read somewhere that you shouldn't put the 'slab' weights on a W/F ? Yes or no?
