So...

I was in the right place at the right time...  a tire mounting/dismounting machine, and a spin balancing machine were getting replaced.  I managed to acquire them at a very accessible price, got 'em temporarily moved into one of my buildings, and immediately jumped on sorting out two problem tires (one on the big zero-turn mower, the other on my Kubota compact)...

Man, it's nice to have this thing...  It's actually kinda fun to use.  I'm done fighting the manual tire-changer!  ;-)

I'm thinkin' of hanging a sign out under my mailbox saying "Tire mount/dismount $10" for the neighbors that roll by... LOL

I bet you don't need to hang a sign out. The people you know & like will figure out you've got them, & maybe you really don't want some people looking around your stuff.

I have all kinds of friends of convenience, (theirs) because I have a lot of automotive and industrial tools.

The problem is getting them to pay for your services. Seldom do they realize these tools cost money and the expectations are unfair and/or one sided in nature. Not always, but generally speaking of course.

I get $15.00 mount and balance and do not donate the service unless a reciprocating relationship. $25.00 and up for flat repair which is dismount, patch, mount, and rebalance.
That's All Folks!

Hee hee... the tire machine isn't the only thing that generates that sort of attention...

The balancer is inoperative at the moment.  It'll power up and spin the tire, but the display electronics doesn't work, so I need to do some investigation there.

Just having the machine to do my own tires is worth it... no more fighting 'em with bars, or driving them across town.

Wondering what brand you picked up. Do you have a commercial grade air compressor to run it? I hope so, anything less and you might be real disappointed. I have both here at home but I have never advertised the fact that I have them. I guess 22 years of fixing hundreds of tires has been enough for me.

This is a John Bean, which is the manufacturer that Snap-On distributes.  It's a fairly nice machine from what I can tell... but I'm no expert on tire machines, just glad I don't hafta fight levers any more.

my air system is comprised of three compressor units in three different buildings, all plumbed together, and into the house basement, attic, henhouse, I've got connections at the lightpole in my driveway, down by the sawmill, in the grainery, in each grain bin...  basically everywhere.

Each compressor has a dryer... the unit in my attached garage is a 4-cylinder 2-stage 15hp Brunner feeding into an Atlas Copco refrigerated dryer, then a reciever-dryer, into the Brunner's 400-gallon horizontal tank.  In the south grain bin is an Ingersoll-Rand 3 cylinder 2-stage 7.5hp with a secondary heat exchanger then receiver-dryer, to a 100-gal vertical tank.  In the generator shed is a 2-cylinder Quincy driven off a PTO sheave on the Hercules JXLD of my 35kw gen plant, it has an intercooler/aftercooler on electric fan in the rafters...

usually, the only one that runs is the Brunner.  If I'm running the blast cabinet... MEBBIE the one down in the grain bin will kick on, but not usually.  If I'm running a big impact gun or a body grinder or cutoff tool down in the bin (it's a workshop now) then the Ingersoll may kick on (the buildings' interlinking is 1/2" ID, so it won't flow a particularly high volume between for long periods).  The plasma table is really the most hungry consumer, followed by the blast cabinet, air router and cutoff tools.

If I'm on emergency power, the grain bin is shut off, and the garage Brunner is knocked out by the load-shedding panel, at which time a low pressure detection will kick the Quincy into action to bring system pressure back up IF I'm running off the big gen.  If I'm running off any of the smaller systems, the compressors won't start, as it's too much electrical load to do so.  It's rare that I'd be needing air when that happens, but if I do, I just switch to the big engine and it takes care of it.

So... I'm not hurting for air superiority here.... ;-)
