Hi all,
I am a newbie thanks for having me! I hope im in the right dicussion forum...
I inherited a model B from my inlaws a few years back and absolutely love this machine. It runs fantastic and its used for bush hogging and plowing in the winter. My question is this: the transmission (i think) seems to have constant chatter to it. Just a consistent sound. not really grinding, but its just there when running. When clutch is depressed, the sound goes away.

Any thoughts? IM sorry if this is vague but not sure how to explain it. As i said im new the vintage iron and my plan is clean her up a bit, keep her mechanically sound and use it. not a trailer queen.

Thanks!

Thanks Pumpkinman. it does have a PTO unit and the hydraulics seem to work fine. there is no difference when they are engaged or not. its just a constant whining sound - until the clutch is pushed in. From what im guessing and what others tell me, it might just sound like that. Maybe im just being anal about it...?

your going to try to pinpoint wher the noise is comeing from. could be a bearing in the trans. did you check the oil level ? could be the clutch throw out bearing . take a long screwdriver put it on the housings put your ear  on the handle end  lisen for your noise. start at the clutch and move to the front of the trans. does it make the noise when you have in gear and moveing ?
