My brother is trying to repair his knee and spindle play. I did this a couple years ago on my 190 and as I remember the hard part was taking the steering arm off, however in his case getting the steering arm off was easy but he wants to remove the knees from the main front axle tube and he has them unbolted but he has not been able to get the me to slide out of the tube. Anyone have any tricks or suggestions. Thanks

Remove all three bolts on each side. Go drive it down a railroad track at high speed. That oughta shake things loose.

Granted I only have 7 years of experience, but I have never had a problem with an axle knee rusting in the center section. You could take the largest hammer you can handle and rap on each side of the center section where the knee slides in. Once you take the bolts out, there should be enough wiggle to slide the knee out. Rapping with a hammer (or the vibration from running down a railroad track) should break up the crud thats holding the knee in.

Tie the tractor down and use a port a power between steering arm and frame. Have saw them so tight that a port a power would barely move them.        MACK

After I took the arm off, I ran the nut down flush with the threads. A few wacks with the sledge hammer and it popped loose. Had to replace the sleeves at the top and bottom of mine, its a 190XT so it may be different.

I had that problem on a D10 I had once;  I took the axle off and used a stump burner torch to heat the tubing with a porta-power between the spindle housings,
After the first one moved I secured it at first available adjustment hole and continued to the other side.

This is on a smaller scale but might help your situation.
