I am confused as to what the differences are to have 2 clutches? When to use what for what? To my knowledge, I don't ever need the hand clutch? Just the foot clutch, put it in gear and etc...
(still learning about the tractor)

Hand clutch only stops the wheels . Very useful when baling hay , or when wanting to inch forward tractor .

The hand clutch lets you use the PTO and hyd while being in gear and not moving. There is debate about weather or not you can shift with it. Some guys can, some can't. Foot clutch is for changing gears and for engaging the PTO. I would put mine in gear and then use the hand clutch to start moving. You can not use the hand one of you don't want to. All depends on what you are doing. AaronSEIA

Thanks everybody! :) This makes sense. Basically the hand clutch you can use or not use? Doesn't matter, but if you have attachments or using the pulley, you can put it in gear (foot clutch), and rev the throttle without actually moving (hand clutch engaged)?

Basically, use the foot clutch to put in gear and to stop everything, tractor movement , hydraulics, PTO and belt pulley. The hand clutch only stops tractor movement and everything else keeps going.

b, If you have power take off attachments, the tractor can be moved and or stopped with the hand clutch and the attachment (bailer) can still be in operation while the tractors slows and or stops. Then pull back the hand clutch and the tractor will move again. The belt pulley and the PTO are started and stopped with only the foot clutch. Belt pulleys are typically used with stationary equipment such as a saw mill, or threshing machine. Good luck with your tractor! We need some pictures too! Regards, Chris

Keep in mind that hand clutch is made for lots of use , use it all day long and its ready for tomorrow , foot clutch is a dry clutch and will wear out quick if slipped.

By using some of the newer lighter lubricants in the hand clutch, I use universal trans/hydraulic, you are able to shift with the hand clutch without grinding gears, but you should make the shift quickly in one movement. Handy when blading snow. The drawback is that you may have a few more leaks due to the thinner oil.

Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives.
