WD foot clutch

Anybody have any idea why the foot clutch will not disengage? I’ve checked the adjustment several times and it’s right. With all the access plates removed and engine off, I can press the clutch and the friction plate is loose.   It will break loose if I press in the clutch and jam on both brakes, or hit the gas quick. I’m starting to think maybe the input shaft is groved?.?.? Anybody else ever come across this?

I also should add, when it does break loose, I can shift gears perfectly. There is no dragging.

Problem could be input shaft splines or splines in hub of clutch disc. Could also be pilot bearing. Leon

Could be that one of the disk sections came loose and intermittently jams between the pressure plate and the clutch disk.

Thanks for the reply’s. I’m guessing about the only way to figure it out is to start tearing into it.   Do I need to actually pull the engine out, or can it be slid forward?

I helped change one years ago. We pulled the engine. If I remember correctly you can move it forward, but only a few inches beyond clearing the splined shaft. The oil pan will hit the pedestal. We didn't have the right tools and still managed to get the job done.

I know this post was made a while ago. I just now got around to fixing and and thought I’d let you guys know what I found.   One section of the clutch lining came loose and was hanging up in the clutch. Thanks to Rick for sending me a clutch at a great price and fast shipping! This was not a bad job. I believe 8 hours start to finish.
